About The FBA Blog
by lefever on November 18, 2010
WELCOME to the Foundation for the Biblical Arts’ Online Community.
We have three categories currently happening here in the FBA Dialogs section–two are participatory, one is reflective.
The reflective posts are found in “Snapshots”, a weekly post under 500 words reflecting on a snapshot idea taken from the LeFever documentary travel journals notes. They include unpublished notes and expound on ideas found both in Jeff’s In+Sight Journals and from his Consecrated Space Blog.
Our readers and visitors drive the two participatory blogs. One is on books that tell of the arts and theology, contemporary art, markets, culture… This is a list of books that inspire or has inspired our audience–books recommended and reviewed by our audience. The FBA does not necessarily endorse these books, but does want to offer an area where readers can share what has inspired them and why. Please be respectful of copyright when sharing text from books or quoting authors giving credit where credit is due. Find out more about “Books” by clicking here (or on “Books” in the blog navigation). If you are a reader and are inspired, let’s start sharing and spread the enthusiasm and insight!
Our most interactive offering in “Dialogs” is the actual Dialog Blog. You are invited to join with us as in the discussion as we discover the relationship between the visual arts and worship– “secular” and “Christian” culture, consecrated space and local community, the consecrated heart and a God-centric life.
We value your voice and your thoughts as we facilitate dialog on these topics and more. Please feel free to share your experiences and thoughts. We encourage the dialog. The point here is to share and build a body of experience that reflects the essential quality of the visual arts to the consecrated space – not to argue, belittle, or control in our statements – but to build a voice that underscores the value of the visual arts and consecrated space. Please come explore with us explores what it means to a community to build for ourselves special places, where spiritual matters can be accessed in the communities where we live (as opposed to virtually – and yes we are aware of the irony of that statement, we thought it funny).
Consider this a community project – a dialog meant to inform and build one another to do greater things in our faith. This is a place where IDEAS are meant to support and galvanize and we hope the fruit here will be inviting by means of inspiration. We hope these dialogs act as a deep well from which we drink, urging our imaginations to possibility and practice.
The forum is a civil and respectful place, and to this end is moderated. We encourage a safe place for all to share their experience and their ideas with love and kindness.
